I fell in love with cooking as a little girl, sitting on the counter, helping Mom cook. That shared love of cooking is what this blog is all about. I want this to be a place where we can all share and learn from each other all our favorite recipes, kitchen tips, and more. From how to fry an egg to Grandma's tried and true classics to your favorite olive oil. I hope everyone enjoys the blog, has fun with it, and will contribute your own ideas.

Tomato Cream Sauce Pasta

This is another great Pioneer Woman recipe. I really LOVE this recipe. It couldn't be simpler and it is now my new favorite pasta. Maybe just because it is something different? It is so good every time I make it I always make enough for leftovers. And trust me, do not leave the fresh basil out! It is so easy to find at the grocery store- no reason to and it makes the whole dish. A sourdough bread goes great with this.

Tomato Cream Sauce Pasta
From: Christi via THE PIONEER WOMAN

2 T Olive Oil
2 T Butter
1 onion, finely diced
4 cloves of garlic, minced
2 cans (15 oz. each) Tomato sauce
salt and pepper, to taste
dash of sugar
2-3 cups heavy cream
grated parmesan cheese (powder)
fresh basil, chopped
pasta noodles of your choice (I like Penne or Rotini)

Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain, and set aside. Heat butter and oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic and saute for a minute or so. Pout in tomato sauce and add salt, pepper, and sugar to taste. Stir and cook over low heat for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in cream (at least 1 cup, the creamier you want it.. add more cream.) Add cheese to taste then check seasonings. Stir in pasta and chopped basil and serve immediately.

*If I am in a hurry a couple things I do to save time are I use the jar of pre-minced garlic from the produce section, and the pre-diced onion. Either from the produce section or frozen. Both are super cheap and totally worth the time it saves sometimes.
