I fell in love with cooking as a little girl, sitting on the counter, helping Mom cook. That shared love of cooking is what this blog is all about. I want this to be a place where we can all share and learn from each other all our favorite recipes, kitchen tips, and more. From how to fry an egg to Grandma's tried and true classics to your favorite olive oil. I hope everyone enjoys the blog, has fun with it, and will contribute your own ideas.

Okra Fry Bread

This is a Paula Deen recipe that we tried and really liked it. Thought I would share.

Okra Fry Bread
From: Paula Deen
1 cup cornmeal

1 cup self rising flour
2 tsp. salt
2 ½ cups water
1 bag frozen okra, thawed
½ cup chopped Vidalia onion
1 T. clarified butter (more if needed)

In large bowl wisk together cornmeal, flour, & salt. Wisk in Okra and onions. Over medium heat add clarified butter to an iron skillet. Use a small ladle to pour mixture into very hot skillet. Skillet should be hot enough to make better sizzle. Cook until underside is brown (3-4 minutes). Flip & brown other side, adding more butter if necessary.
