I fell in love with cooking as a little girl, sitting on the counter, helping Mom cook. That shared love of cooking is what this blog is all about. I want this to be a place where we can all share and learn from each other all our favorite recipes, kitchen tips, and more. From how to fry an egg to Grandma's tried and true classics to your favorite olive oil. I hope everyone enjoys the blog, has fun with it, and will contribute your own ideas.

Mom's Chicken and Dumplins

OK so I am sure all of you are going to freak out because this recipe calls for FROZEN dumplins and not some amazing roll em out yourself recipe. But here's the deal. This is not only WAY easier to make but it actually tastes better. Honestly. We tried making our own dumplins a thousand times and they never turned out even close to as good as these frozen ones. So go ahead. Buy the frozen ones and get over it. I won't tell anyone.

*NOTE* There are 2 sizes of frozen dumplins. There is a smaller size package which is harder to find now- I believe it is 12 oz.? If you are buying these, you will need 4 packages. Obviously if you are buying the larger package, you aren't going to need as many- I think it is 24 oz? So you will need only 2 packages. Make sure you read the label or you may have way too many dumplins!

Also- Mary B's is the best brand of dumplins in my opinion... if you can find them. Wal-Mart has them most of the time.
Mom's Chicken and Dumplins
From: Judy R.

1 whole chicken
1 stick butter
Salt & pepper to taste (extra pepper!)
4 to 6 cans chicken broth
4 pkgs. Frozen dumplins

Put whole chicken in large pot, cover with water. (rinse chicken inside and out before using!) add salt, pepper, & butter. Bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 1 ½ hours.

Lift chicken out to platter and let cool. Add can chicken broth to liquid left in pan until pot is ¾ full and bring to boil. Add dumplins to boiling water. Do not thaw dumplins beforehand. Break them into halves or thirds if you want. Add a few at a time letting the water come back up to a boil each time between dropping the dumplins to avoid sticking. Stir often! When all dumplins are in, lower the heat and cook covered for 1 hour or until tender, stirring often.

When chicken is cool remove all meat from the bones & add to the dumplins a little at a time.

Let chicken and dumplins warm through and serve while hot.
