I fell in love with cooking as a little girl, sitting on the counter, helping Mom cook. That shared love of cooking is what this blog is all about. I want this to be a place where we can all share and learn from each other all our favorite recipes, kitchen tips, and more. From how to fry an egg to Grandma's tried and true classics to your favorite olive oil. I hope everyone enjoys the blog, has fun with it, and will contribute your own ideas.

Mrs. Ray's Date Candy

This was sent to me from Merletta, who has been searching for this recipe for years. Finally got it and was nice enough to pass it along!
Mrs. Ray's Date Candy
From: Merletta- Via Mrs. Ray
2 1/2 cups sugar, 1 small can evaporated milk, 2 Tbls butter, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 lb dates (chopped) and nuts optional. She didn't say how much nuts. add all ingredients in a pan & cook to soft ball stage. Remove from heat & beat till firm. (I think I would add the nuts after boiling) Roll in damp cloth. She used a flour sack dishtowel. Chill and slice
