I fell in love with cooking as a little girl, sitting on the counter, helping Mom cook. That shared love of cooking is what this blog is all about. I want this to be a place where we can all share and learn from each other all our favorite recipes, kitchen tips, and more. From how to fry an egg to Grandma's tried and true classics to your favorite olive oil. I hope everyone enjoys the blog, has fun with it, and will contribute your own ideas.

Strawberry Pretzel Salad

This is one of those recipes that doesn't sound quite right. Makes ya think um.. huh? But trust me, it is delicious. We have made this so many times its ridiculous. And ya gotta love an easy recipe that tastes so good.

Strawberry Pretzel Salad
From: Leslie R.

Crust Layer:

2 cups crushed pretzels
3 T. sugar
¾ cup melted butter
Mix together, place in bottom of 9X11 pan, bake for 8 minutes at 350

Middle Layer:

8 oz. cream cheese
1 cup sugar
8 oz. cool whip

Blend cream cheese & sugar, add cool whip and spread over Crust layer

Top Layer:

2 cups water (boiling)
2 small boxes of strawberry Jell-O
2 sm. Packages frozen strawberries

Prepare all together and let cool.
Pour cooled Jell-O mix over top of Middle layer
Refrigerate and serve!

NOTE: I made this for a party yesterday and was in such a rush I forgot to bake the crust layer before I put the middle layer on.. then I couldn't bake it. So as a result the pretzel crust layer was soggy and my top layer of jello and strawberries turned into just strawberries and the jello seeped to the bottom.. which is why the pretzels were soggy. It still tasted OK but trust me, if this was the first time you have had this dish it is MUCH BETTER when the crust is baked and the jello stays on top! Also to make sure the jello doesn't seep to the bottom, when you are spreading the middle layer out make sure there aren't any big holes anywhere. Such an easy dish to make and I forgot to bake the crust! So aggrivating!
